In this blog post, we are going to discuss the new Schema being added in EBS R12.2 as a part of AD-TXK Delta 13 i.e. EBS_SYSTEM that modernizes the Oracle E-Business Suite database architecture.

EBS Schema

EBS_SYSTEM Schema

  • In AD-TXK Delta 13 with 12.2.11 onwards, Oracle introducing a new schema, EBS_SYSTEM, which is similar to the Oracle Database’s SYSTEM schema.
  • Prior to the introduction of the EBS_SYSTEM schema, Oracle E-Business Suite installed application objects in the Oracle Database SYS and SYSTEM schemas. These objects (based on object types & functions) are now moved to EBS_SYSTEM, APPS, or APPS_NE schema
  • Highly privileged operations that were previously run by the SYS or SYSTEM accounts are now run by EBS_SYSTEM.
  • All Oracle E-Business Suite administration actions (such as adop, adadmin and other utilities) are now performed by EBS_SYSTEM.
  • Migration to the EBS_SYSTEM schema makes it possible to separate the role of the Oracle E-Business Suite system administrators from database administrators.
  • Post-migration to EBS System Schema (EBS_SYSTEM), the APPS schema will no longer have the ability to create database directory objects. Database directory objects are now created by the EBS_SYSTEM user.
  • Minimum version for EBS_SYSTEM schema is 12.2.3 so for 12.2.3-12.2.10 apply EBS Schema Migration Consolidated patch.
  • To migrate to EBS_SYSTEM schema follow Oracle Support Note 2755875.1 Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 System Schema Migration

I started my IT career in 2000 as an Oracle DBA/Apps DBA. The first few years were tough (<$100/month), with very little growth. In 2004, I moved to the UK. After working really hard, I landed a job that paid me £2700 per month. In February 2005, I saw a job that was £450 per day, which was nearly 4 times of my then salary.
