How does AWS CloudFormation choose actual resource names?
AWS resources can have logical names assigned to them in a template. AWS CloudFormation links the logical name of a stack to the name of the associated physical AWS resource when the stack is formed. The logical resource name and the stack are combined to create the actual resource names. Because of this, it is possible to generate many stacks using a template without worrying about name clashes amongst AWS resources.
Can I create stacks in a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC)?
